Celtics cruise past Charlotte

(AP Photo/Charles Krupa)

The Boston Celtics get their 4th straight win against the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday. Boston won 108-100 getting revenge on Charlotte after the Bobcats handed the Celtics their worst home loss of the season in early January. Kendrick Perkins had a career game scoring 19 points, grabbing 9 rebounds and blocking 5 shots. So good job Kendrick. The problem with this is, Doc Rivers will think Perkins should be in the Hall of Fame and give him all the minutes now regardless of how great Leon and Big Baby are playing.

Big surprise here (sarcasm)... Leon had another great game! But of course Powe only got 11 minuets despite scoring 9 points and grabbing 4 boards. Not much more Leon can do than that. All I can say is, great job Leon, keep up the good work.

Leon leads Celtics past Cavs

Leon Powe once again helped lead the Boston Celtics to victory, this time it was against Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Leon was almost perfect as usual going 4 for 5 from the field and 5 for 5 from the free throw line, giving Powe 13 points and 3 rebounds in the 92-87 win.

Not only did Leon score 13 points, he did it in approximately 13 minuets. If Doc would've given Powe 48 minuets like he deserves, Leon would have had 48 points. But we'll be left speculating about what Leon could do in a full game until Doc can figure it out.

The Celtics played well tonight, especially Leon, Ray Allen and Glen "Big Baby" Davis. Big Baby is hit or miss, and tonight he was a hit. I'll give him credit when it's due. So good job Davis, even though you took playing time from Leon.

Leon Scores 12 in Celtics Blowout

(JIM DAVIS/GLOBE STAFF)

Leon Powe finally got some minuets and produced in a 104-76 blow out of the Los Angeles Clippers. Leon scored 12 points, most of which came from the free throw line and grabbed 3 boards in 21 minuets. It wasn't Powe's best game of the year but he still put together a solid game.

It's pretty clear that Brian Scalabrine and Scot Pollard should not touch the floor. The rotation should be KG, Perkins, Leon, and Big Baby. Davis needs about 8 to 12 minutes a game, Leon needs 20-25 a game. Perkins about the same as Leon with 20-25. Garnett Should get the most with about 35 minuets. Scal and Scot should never see the floor. If Doc kept the rotation like this, the Celtics would better off. The more playing time for Leon, the more wins for the Celtics!

Celtics get lucky, Pull out win in Portland

(AP Photo/Jim Mone)

I say the Boston Celtics were lucky to win at Portland on Sunday because any game with Leon Powe playing only 6 minuets the Celtics should lose. But thanks to great play from Paul Pierce who rebounded from a terrible game in Phoenix, the Celtics won 112-102. Doc Rivers, I still hate you! How you could give any minuets to Scot Pollard ahead of Leon is beyond me. Pollard should not be in the league, Pollard Shouldn't even be in the D-league. Big Baby is good some games for a few minuets. But giving him 17 minuets when he is playing terrible is ridiculous.

There is no player in the NBA that gets more out of a minute than Leon Powe. He still finds a way to be productive and make things happen. How Doc Rivers could have him on the bench blows my mind. If the Celtics are going to win the Championship, Doc will need to figure out how to use his bench.

Terrible Coaching Cost Celtics

The Boston Celtics lost to the Phoenix Suns 85-77 due to a terrible job by coach Doc Rivers. Doc is the reason why the Celtics can't win the championship. Yes, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce played very badly but I blame this one all on Rivers. The Suns out rebounded the Celtics by 18. This is because moron Doc Rivers has Scot Pollard, Kendrick Perkins, and Glen Davis playing ahead of Leon Powe. Leon is a physical player and that's what the Celtics needed in a game where they couldn't grab a rebound. You don't win tough games by leaving your toughest player on the bench. Doc left Leon on the bench and it's the reason they lost. Leon played 4 minutes scored 2 points and had 2 rebounds. If Powe plays 40 minuets he would have had 20 points and 20 rebounds. Boston sure could have used that tonight. Thanks Doc! You blew this one! Learn how to use your bench!

Celtics' Powe has reasons to be proud

A proud papa, Powe

is playing increased role

Playing time was so scarce for second-year Boston Celtics forward Leon Powe at the start of this season that you couldn't be blamed for thinking his primary role was that of Coach Doc Rivers' human victory cigar.

Over the past month, however, it's been Powe's turn to light a stogie and celebrate.

After seeing 58 minutes of action in the Celtics' first 37 games, the Oakland native and former Cal star became a father for the first time - son Leon Powe III was born Jan. 16. Two days later, he played a then-season-high 15 minutes, scoring 10 points and grabbing six rebounds against Philadelphia.

Powe was ready and able to fill in when Kevin Garnett went down with an abdominal injury against Minnesota on Jan. 25. Four days later in Miami, Powe had a career-high 25 points and added 11 rebounds for his second NBA double-double.

"In practice, I work hard, and every day I take seriously, especially games," Powe said. "I just tried to prepare myself and when (Garnett's injury) happened, I was ready to go out there and perform when called on. That's all me and my family talk about, just staying ready."

He's since had two more double-doubles and added a winning layup with 0.2 seconds remaining in the Celtics' 88-86 victory over the Timberwolves on Feb. 8.

"He's been terrific," Rivers said. "I'm more impressed that he's just hung in there. That's basically who he's been his whole life, and he just hung in there and never complained about not getting minutes, kept fighting - literally, sometimes in practice - every day, and earned his minutes. And that's who Leon's always been."

• In addition to Stephen Jackson's first game missed because of injury this season, Baron Davis played despite a painful bone bruise in his left leg.

"It's kind of funny that after five days off, we come back and we're more injured now than we were all year, it seems like," Warriors Coach Don Nelson said. "Who would have ever thought that? It doesn't work out the way you think sometimes."

A team spokesman said Jackson was considered day to day.

• For the second time this season, the Warriors set a franchise record for single-game attendance. The team announced a standing-room-only crowd of 20,711, breaking the previous record of 20,705 set Dec. 14 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Leon doesn't miss in Celtics loss

The Boston Celtics fell to the Golden State Warriors 119-117 on Wednesday. The reason was because of the lack of shot attempts Leon was given. Powe was one for one in the game with his one field goal being a dunk in the first half. Leon being a 60% shooter needs more than one shot if the Celtics want to win. Unfortunately other players and coaches haven't figured this out yet. Look for Powe to be more of a factor against Phoenix on Friday. Leon's the only player in the league strong enough to guard Shaq, so that should be an exciting match up.

Powe gets Double-Double in Celtics loss

photo (AP Photo/David Zalubowski)

In just 21 minuets of play, Leon Powe scored 13 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and had 2 blocks in a 124-118 loss to the Denver Nuggets. Clearly another great game by Leon despite only getting 21 minutes. Some might say 21 minutes is a lot for Powe, I say it's not enough. If Leon gets his minutes doubled against Denver he would have had 26 points 22 rebounds and 4 blocks. Sounds like Leon needs more playing time to me.

Powe Delivers in Celtics win over Knicks

Leon had another huge game against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. With Kendrick Perkins sitting out, Powe got the start. Leon had to step up especially huge tonight with injuries occurring to Brian Scalabrine and Glen “Big Baby” Davis in the first half. Powe got the job done, helping the Celtics get the victory with 18 points 8 rebounds and a block. It just shows if you give Leon the minutes he will produce.

Leon almost records double-double in Celtics win

With Kendrick Perkins out of the line up, Leon got another chance to start against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday. Powe finished the game with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Leon had a few big dunks that helped propel the Celtics over the Pacers 104-97.
